Alroy Valley Train Station

The mythological Valley Train, which operated at the time of the Ottoman rule, travelled slowly among the settlements scattered across the valley, including a small station at Alroy, which was used as a meeting place for the people of the region, who were fighting against bandits and daily hardships. The station served the people of Alroy, Kiryat Amal and kibbutz Sha’ar Ha’amakim. The train ceased to operate along the years, the station was deserted, the railway disappeared and the land was covered by thorns and wilderness. The people of the region have undertaken the restoration of the place and have decided to renew and reconstruct it. What’s at the site: the restored train station and the renewed railway, train cars and a blooming garden for the public’s enjoyment. A museum telling the story of the place has been established in one of the cars; a short walking trail up the road from the stream, which was used as a living water source for the settlement, from which a short walk along the waterway to the estuary of the Kishon river can be had; an old furnace for producing lime, which tells the story of the construction of the houses at the site.

For children: the visit is suited for children and families, and “Adopt a Site” activity by pupils from nearby.

Location: Alroy neighbourhood in Kiryat Tivon, end of Barak Ben Avinoam street. From Kfar Yehoshua junction to Kiryat Haroshet according to the signboards and from HaAmakim junction a turn to Alroy and from there according to the signboards.
