The Water Tower - the building and the coal yard

The water tower is the original structure that was built at the station, with a few changes that were made over the years. If we look at the outside of the tower, we can see a cornice –   an architectural decoration that separates the edge of the stone wall from the water tank above it. The concrete water tank that exists today was built at a later stage.

On the wall of the water tower, we can see bent metal bars that were attached to it and served as a ladder.

The openings of the building were emphasized with high-quality, delicately chiseled stone. The original door and shutters did not survive.

To the south of the building, we can see a small yard next to the water tower. The yard was used to store the coal used to create steam. Notice the metal relief on the wall of railroad workers loading coal into the train’s engines.
