This is the foyer (entrance)
In this BEAUTIFUL room, you can see the ticket booth window. The window was a small opening in the wall, behind which the ticket seller sat
The window was restored to its original appearance in the early days of the station
There are photos on the wall of the train and the tracks
Next to the photos is a map of the stations where the train stopped
Around you are items that were used by the station workers, such as
Signaling tools used by station workers to indicate to the train’s engineer where to stop and when to continue the journey
On the left side of the room, you can see the Sultan’s “blessing” rail
It was part of the railroad track
It was inscribed with a blessing to the Turkish sultan Abdul Hamid the Second, with whose help the Valley Train was built
Similar “blessing rails” were found at various points along the railroad tracks
To this day, it is unclear how many such rails there were
