Ussishkin Museum, Kibbutz Dan
Wednesday, April 24, 2025 | 19:00
Sergeant Regev Amar z”l –of Sde Nehemia, third generation in the Galilee, dedicated a year of national service to the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, where he worked as a guide at the field school. He enlisted in the Navy Commando Unit (Shayetet 13), later transferred to the elite Duvdevan unit and then to the Paratroopers, Battalion 101.
War broke out while he was in a squad commander training course. On October 7th, 2023, the course was urgently deployed to combat. Regev fought bravely on the route to Kibbutz Kfar Aza and continued into the kibbutz itself, where he fell in battle while saving his comrades—preventing them from rescuing him from a deadly zone in which he had been wounded.
After his death, his parents, Gilanit and David, established the pre-military academy “Derech Regev” (“Regev’s Way”) in Sde Nehemia. The academy is dedicated to educating in his spirit and values—fostering action, involvement, and activism—thus fulfilling his legacy to be remembered through meaningful impact and values.
We will host a gathering and conversation with Gilanit and David Amar, Regev’s parents. Together, we will speak about Regev, his journey, their journey, courage and heroism, loss and mourning during wartime in the Galilee, their evacuation from their home, and about values and renewal.
The evening will be accompanied with music by Eyal Shavit from the band “Northern Winds.”
