Clandestine Immigration and Naval Museum in Haifa

A museum reviewing the military naval history of the State of Israel from the days of clandestine and illegal immigration to Palestine during the British Mandate. It demonstrates the direct linkage between clandestine an illegal immigration to Land of Israel at the time of the British Mandate. It also displays the direct connection between clandestine immigration, the Palyam (the naval platoon of the Palmach) and the naval service of the Haganah, prior to the establishment of the State, and the establishment of the Israeli Navy and its operation since its early days until today.

What’s at the site: at the center of the museum stands the “Af Al Pi Chen” (lit. “Nevertheless”) clandestine immigrant ship; reconstruction of life at the detention camps in Cyprus and the history of the naval struggle against the British; side panel of the “Patria” deportation ship, sunk by the Haganah at the port of Haifa; a special wing dedicated to the history of the Israeli Navy which contains photos, documents, battle diagrams, weapons, ship models and original exhibits, such as: the “Mivtach” naval ship and the “Gal” naval submarine which can be toured from the inside; at the museum entrance is the bridge of the “Dakar” naval submarine, retrieved from the depths of the Mediterranean, 31 years after it sank. 

For the general public: advance coordination of guided tours is recommended. In addition, guided tours for small groups and single visitors depart every round hour.
