Located at the Jaffa Gate entrance to the Old City in the Jerusalem’s ancient citadel, the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum is the new gateway to Jerusalem. Its new permanent exhibition provides an engaging exploration of the city, intertwining the historical narrative of Jerusalem of 4000 years with its significance to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam and allowing the visitor to enter the pathways and alleyways of the Old City with a deeper understanding of Jerusalem
Using ancient authentic artifacts as well as the latest in multi-media technology and film and animation, the museum’s new permanent exhibition focuses on the events and developments that have shaped the city and continue to influence its present-day identity as the capital of the State of Israel. There is a 12 meter interactive touch screen wall, video mapping, a 360 degree immersive video installation, interactive maps and new site-specific films mapped onto the ancient citadel walls. The Tower of David citadel was once the fortress defending the city. Its archaeological excavations, found outside in the archaeological garden, reveal the city’s evolution across 3,000 years. Its unique location allows for spectacular 360-degree views of the entire city from its towers
The Museum also houses changing exhibitions and offers educational programs, guided tours, workshops, and lectures as immersive learning experiences in Hebrew, Arabic, English and other foreign languages
As daylight fades, the citadel walls transform into a canvas for mesmerizing sound and light displays, projecting the history of Jerusalem and the tale of King David in huge breathtaking images
There are “combined tickets” for daytime entrance and the night show – and a guided tour, included in the entrance price of the Museum, takes place in English every day from Sunday – Friday at 10:00. The Tower of David Jerusalem Museum is accessible
